This page provides notification of short and long term conditions that may affect Roslyn residents and businesses. In the event of a severe emergency, this website will be preempted by a single web page providing information on the emergency conditions. The regular site will resume at the conclusion of the emergency.
As of June 1st, the Atlantic Hurricane Season starts and continues through to October. Every year that Long Island is spared increases our probability for the following year that we will be affected by a hurricane. In the event of a Catagory 3 hurricane, many Long Islanders could be without power for months. Federal and State agencies are urging everyone to prepare for such an eventuality so that you will be able to fend for yourself as it could be days or weeks until full government resources get on line following such an event.
It's not a question of "IF", it's a question of "WHEN". Find out how you and your family can be prepared by following the link below.

Nassau County has notified local governments that a mailing is going around urging people to obtain a certified copy of their deed. These mailings are solicitations by private companies who will charge to obtain the deed for you. The charges for this service are up to $90, which is 1,700% higher than the County fee for the same service. A Certified deed may be obtained directly from the County Clerks Office or by mail using a form available at the Roslyn Village Hall. The fee is $5 if you go in person or $10 by mail.

Dear Neighbor:
I want to advise you about an ongoing identity theft email scam aimed at stealing your personal information.
Recently, identity thieves have sent fraudulent emails to individuals claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). These emails have asked the recipient for important personal information (such as social security numbers, account PIN numbers or passwords, or credit card information), or directed them to an official looking website where this information is requested. Once criminals obtain this personal information, they then use it to commit identity theft.
The IRS does not initiate taxpayer communications through email. They also do not request detailed personal information via email or ask for PIN numbers or other secret access information for a taxpayer's credit card, bank, or other financial accounts.
If you receive such an email, do not respond, click links, or download attachments. You should immediately forward it to the IRS at phishing@irs.gov. Forwarding instructions are available from the IRS website by CLICKING (below).
Sincerely,
Senator Carl L. Marcellino
