Hurricane Earl is now a catagory 1 storm. It is expected to pass Long Island 125 miles East of Montauk Point. The Roslyn area can expect 20-40 mph winds, up to 2 inches of rain and some increased tides at high tide at 7 pm. This assessment is as of 11:30 am, 9/3/10. Storm track can still vary and residents are encouraged to monitor the National Weather Service advisories for any changes. Current advisories may be found at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

As of April 2009, the Village is awaiting funding and approval drcisions on various projects including installation of brick style crosswalks in the downtown area and new bulkheading at the Lumber Rd. lot at the rear of the gristmill.

The businesses located in the Village's "Commercial Collection District" are required to utilize the Village containers located in the Old Northern Blvd. Parking Lot. A map of the the district is available in the "Publications" section of this site. Please note that an additional container has been added for "Cardboard Only". All cardboard must be flattened and placed in this designated recepticle only. No cardboard is to be placed in the dumpsters. Signs designating the appropriate containers are on the gates. - Added on November 3, 2008
Work is under way to create a new park on the Village property located at the corner of East Broadway and Vernon Ave. This passive park will provide a quiet location to sit and relax, have lunch or go for a quick stroll. Asphalt, concrete, and debris have been removed, a water meter vault installed for a sprinkler system and electric, and the final layout is in progress. - Added on February 8, 2008
The Village is in the final stage of obtaining necessary county approvals to change the crosswalks at Old Northern Blvd and East Broadway, and Old Northern Blvd. and Main St., to stamped concrete. The new crosswalks will have the appearance of brick as seen in Sea Cliff and other areas. Stamped concrete is a requirement of Nassau County for duribility and safety. The new crosswalks will add to the appearance of the downtown area while promoting pedestrian safety. - Added on February 4, 2008
