PSEG Long Island is Prepared for Upcoming Weather
“PSEG Long Island works throughout the year to prepare for extreme weather and to make sure the energy grid is reliable for our customers,” said John O’Connell, Vice President of Transmission & Distribution at PSEG Long Island. “We take every storm seriously and have crews and personnel available to handle any outages and emergencies that may occur.”
PSEG Long Island urges its customers to be cautious if they see downed lines. Downed wires should always be considered “live.” Do not approach or drive over a downed line and do not touch anything that it might be in contact with.
To report downed wires or power outages and receive status updates:
- Call PSEG Long Island’s 24-hour Electric Service line at 1-800-490-0075.
- Use My Alerts, PSEG Long Island’s text message service, and Text OUT to PSEGLI (773454).
As this feature requires an account number for a one-time registration, it’s best to do it beforehand. To register, text REG to PSEGLI (773454) or visit the My Account section of the website www.psegliny.com/account.
- Check PSEG Long Island’s mobile-friendly outage map at outagemap.psegliny.com.
Updated every 15 minutes, the outage map includes the number of customers served in the service territory and a selected area, the number impacted by an outage, as well as the estimated restoration time and the cause of the outage, if available.
PSEG Long Island operates the Long Island Power Authority’s transmission and distribution system under a 12-year contract. PSEG Long Island is a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated (NYSE:PEG), a publicly traded diversified energy company with annual revenues of $9.1 billion.
